Hanumankind becomes second Indian artiste to perform at Coachella
Malayali rapper Hanumankind, who gained global attention with his viral hit "Big Dawgs" this year, is set to make history as the second Indian artiste to perform at the iconic Coachella music festival.
Following in the footsteps of Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh, who took the stage at Coachella 2024, Hanumankind will now represent Indian talent at the 2025 edition of the prestigious event.
Earlier on Wednesday, Coachella organisers revealed the lineup for 2025, with headline performances by Lady Gaga, Green Day, and Post Malone, while Travis Scott will make a special guest appearance.
The much-anticipated festival, known for its star-studded lineups and cutting-edge performances, will also feature artists like Missy Elliott, Charli XCX, and Megan Thee Stallion.
Taking place over two weekends, from April 11-13 and 18-20, the festival will see Hanumankind perform on a Saturday, although it remains unconfirmed whether his slot is on April 12 or 19.
The early lineup announcement came just a day after Post Malone hinted at his Coachella appearance through his tour schedule. Scott's performance, meanwhile, marks his return to the festival after his 2020 headlining slot was cancelled due to the Covid pandemic.
This year's festival will also witness performances by South Africa's Tyla, who returns after being forced to pull out last year due to injury. Other notable acts include renowned conductor Gustavo Dudamel, accompanied by the LA Philharmonic, as well as Brazil's Anitta and the legendary electronic group Kraftwerk.
Diljit Dosanjh's historic performance last year left a lasting impact, bringing Punjabi music to Coachella for the first time. While 2024 saw headline acts such as Lana Del Rey, Doja Cat, and Tyler, the Creator, Diljit's performance was a proud moment for Indian fans. The event also featured a much-anticipated reunion of "No Doubt" and saw Taylor Swift as a notable presence among the crowd, though not as a performer.
