‘Daagi’ drops romantic track ‘Ektukhani Mon’ featuring Tahsan and Masha

The upcoming film "Daagi" has recently unveiled its romantic track "Ektukhani Mon", penned by Sadat Hossain and performed by artistes Tahsan and Masha.

The narrative introduces two characters—Nishan and Zerin—entangled in a love story that begins off-screen, with the details of their early romance remaining undisclosed.

The characters Nishan and Zerin are portrayed by Afran Nisho and Tama Mirza in the film.

As the story progresses, Zerin is seen expressing her affection by wishing to pick flowers for Nishan, despite making a few mistakes along the way. She yearns to look into his eyes and smile softly, her feelings brimming with unspoken emotions.

Nishan, on the other hand, harbours deep desires of his own. He wants to welcome the evening with thoughts of Zerin, hoping to let go of his pent-up sorrow and pride.

He knows, and so does Zerin, that there is no other place for him—no one else to whom he can profess his love. He pleads with her to keep loving him, to hold on to his heart and soul. For Nishan, Zerin is the beginning and end; life without her, he believes, would be meaningless.

The story is told through the lyrics and visuals of "Ektukhani Mon", the first song from the upcoming film "Daagi", released yesterday at 3 pm.

Sung by Tahsan Khan and Masha Islam, '"Ektukhani Mon" is composed and arranged by Sajid Sarker, with lyrics written by poet and novelist Sadat Hossain.

Hossain has previously collaborated with both Shihab Shaheen and Sajid Sarker. Speaking about his creative process, Sadat Hossain said he never sets out to write songs—he writes poetry, which later takes the form of music for listeners.

Revealing the story behind the song, Hossain shared, "We are going through an uneasy time. So, while writing, I tried to preserve a sense of calmness in the words and expressions. I believe this song carries a certain hypnotic power."

"I'm grateful to Sajid Sarker and Shihab Shaheen for this, but my biggest thanks go to the director. He played each draft of the song for me, consulted on word choices—whether to add or remove anything. After many conversations, we arrived at a place where the words and melody felt right. I hope the audience is enjoying it," he added.

Talking about the track, singer Masha Islam shared, "Everyone wanted me to lend my voice to this song. I thought I'd try recording it and see how it goes. I was immediately drawn to the melody. Besides, it's a song from an Eid film, which made me even more interested. I tried to give it my best."

"Ektukhani Mon" also marks a reunion between director Shihab Shaheen and composer Sajid Sarker after 10 years.

Reflecting on the song's creation, Sarker remarked, "We wanted to create a beautiful romantic track. Sadat Hossain's lyrics are wonderful—his words carry a unique emotional tone. My job was to make that emotion come alive for the listeners. Beyond just the song, we also wanted the music to complement the mood of the entire film. Now that the song is out, the audience will decide how it resonates."

The 1-minute-42-second music video features new scenes from the film, showcasing Afran Nisho and Tama Mirza in a romantic setting.

Several shots also reveal different looks and situations. Previously, the film's teaser was released on March 11.

Produced by SVF Alpha-i Entertainment Ltd and Chorki, the film features performances from Sunerah Binte Kamal, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Gazi Rakayet, Milli Bashar, Rashed Mamun Apu, among others.

According to the director, "Daagi" tells a story of redemption and guilt—a narrative the local audience has not yet experienced.
