Singer Arijit Singh, who announced his retirement from playback singing in January this year, has shared a heartfelt message for his listeners, revealing that several unreleased tracks will continue to be rolled out over the coming months.

The announcement comes weeks after the popular vocalist declared that he would no longer be taking up new playback assignments, a decision that left many fans disappointed.

On Tuesday, Arijit posted a note from his private X account addressing his listeners directly. “This message is only for my listeners. If you are not one, please don’t read further — it’s a humble request. Hello, beautiful people! I just want you to know that I love you. Thank you for your kindness in this harsh world. Although I am no longer accepting new assignments, there is still a long list of pending songs. I have many tracks left to complete,” he wrote.

He added that the unfinished songs would continue to be released until they are completed, possibly throughout the year and even extending into the next. Encouraging fans to remain calm, he urged them to “stay at peace,” step away from social media, read, love and meditate, before concluding with, “And who knows what the future holds?”

Fans quickly reacted with excitement to the news of upcoming releases. One user commented that listeners would get to enjoy his melodious voice for another year, while another wondered if his remark about the future hinted at a possible return to playback singing. Some also pointed out that speculation about him taking a “U-turn” following the release of “Ek Din” may have prompted the clarification.

On January 27, Arijit had formally announced his decision to step back from playback singing. In a New Year message on X, he thanked his listeners for their unwavering support over the years and described his journey as “wonderful.”

Shortly after the announcement, Bollywood actor Aamir Khan visited Arijit in his hometown to record the title track for his son Junaid Khan’s upcoming film, “Ek Din”. In a behind-the-scenes video shared by Aamir Khan Productions, the actor was seen urging the singer not to retire, saying, “Please don’t do this, what will happen to the rest of us?”

While several celebrities, including Shreya Ghoshal, expressed support for Arijit’s decision, others appealed to him to reconsider.
