Cyclone Amphan may make landfall tomorrow afternoon

The super cyclone Amphan is likely to make landfall in Bangladesh tomorrow afternoon.

Met office, in its latest weather update, said the cyclone may cross Bangladesh coast between Khulna and Chattogram tomorrow afternoon or evening as it is intensifying with sustained wind speed of up to 220km per hour. 

Till 3:00 pm today, it was 665 km south-southwest off Payra port and 785 km southwest off Chattogram port, according to the special bulletin of Bangladesh Meteorology Department.

LOW-LYING AREAS OF 14 DISTRICTS LIKELY TO BE INUNDATED

The low-lying areas of 14 coastal districts including Satkhira, Khulna, Patuakhali, and Bhola are likely to be inundated by surge of 5-10 feet height above normal tide.

Ten other districts are: Bagherhat, Jhalakathi, Pirojpur, Borguna, Barishal, Lakshmipur, Chandpur, Noakhali, Feni, Chattogram and their offshore islands and chars.
