Shuvoo-Mim starrer ‘Malik’ officially set for Eid release
Arifin Shuvoo and Bidya Sinha Mim are set to reunite on the big screen after seven years with “Malik”, as the makers officially announced the film’s Eid ul Adha release by unveiling its first poster on Wednesday night.
Director Saif Chandan began shooting the film with the duo toward the end of last year. Although “Malik” was initially expected to release during Eid ul Fitr, delays in completing production postponed the plan.
Speculation had continued for months about a possible Eid ul Adha release. The official confirmation finally came through distributor Tiger Media, which released the film’s poster on social media.
Made in the action genre, “Malik” follows the story of a stubborn man who embarks on a mission of revenge to reclaim his mother’s dignity and rights. Over time, he rises to become a powerful figure and the undisputed ruler of the criminal underworld. Arifin Shuvoo plays the title role.
Bidya Sinha Mim will also appear in action-heavy sequences in the film. For the role, the actress underwent training in martial arts and action choreography.
Speaking about the project, director Saif Chandan said the film combines action with emotional storytelling.
“Although it is an action film, it also has a beautiful story. All the actors have delivered strong performances. Audiences will be even more surprised after seeing the poster, songs, and trailer. I hope it becomes an enjoyable cinematic experience for viewers,” he said.
Saif Chandan is currently in Kolkata overseeing the film’s final-stage post-production work. Speaking about the planned Eid release, he said, “We are moving forward with the target of releasing the film during Eid. Preliminary discussions have already taken place with several cinema halls. However, we will be able to make a final decision after receiving the censor certificate. We also want to begin promotions after that.”
Shuvoo and Mim last shared screen space in Golam Sohrab Dodul’s “Shapludu”, which was released in 2019.
Alongside “Malik”, more than half a dozen films are currently eyeing release during Eid ul Adha. The line-up includes Azman Rusho’s “Rockstar”, Mejbaur Rahman Sumon’s “Roid”, Masud Hasan Ujjal’s “Bonolota Sen”, Badiul Alam Khokon’s “Tosnos” and “Officer”, Akash Haque’s “The University of Chankharpul”, Saikat Nasir’s “Masud Rana”, and Aalok Hasan’s “Nakphuler Kabya”.
