The television drama “Jokhom”, centred on a story of sexual violence and revenge, has garnered more than 4 million views within just two days of its release, drawing widespread attention and debate on social media.
Starring Tawsif Mahbub and Tanjim Saiyara Totini, the drama follows Raisa, a reserved young woman from a middle-class rural background, and Partho, a sociable man from a well-off joint family. Their relationship takes a dark turn following a traumatic incident, around which the narrative unfolds.
Viewers have taken to online platforms to praise both the performances and the story’s bold subject matter. Many described the drama as a powerful portrayal of society’s darker realities, with some calling it a reflection of the lived experiences of survivors.
