'I was blown away by their music': Anupam Roy to share stage with Miles
Popular Kolkata singer-songwriter Anupam Roy is set to fulfil a long-held musical wish as he prepares to share the stage with legendary Bangladeshi rock band Miles, a group he has repeatedly credited with shaping his musical journey.
The two acts will perform together at the "One True Sound" concert on August 1 at the United Convention Centre in Dhaka.
Anupam has spoken on several occasions about his admiration for Miles. During a live appearance on a Bangladeshi television channel, he recalled discovering the band's music as a child.
"When I first started listening to Bangladeshi bands as a child, Miles played a huge role. Back then, their songs were regularly played on the radio. To be honest, I was completely blown away by their music," he said.
On the programme, Anupam also performed Miles' classic "Neela", and has continued to praise the band in subsequent interviews and appearances.
Miles frontman Hamin Ahmed said the admiration is mutual.
"Anupam Roy is a huge fan of Miles. Everyone knows that. He even performed one of our songs at an event. So, I think this concert is going to be very exciting for the audience," he said.
The concert was originally scheduled for June 26 but was postponed at the last minute because of unavoidable administrative and logistical reasons.
Initially, Anupam was due to perform alongside Emon Chowdhury's band Bengal Symphony. However, the group will no longer be part of the rescheduled concert because of scheduling conflicts.
The concert will begin at 5pm on August 1. Advance tickets are now available through Ticket Tomorrow . The event is jointly organised by Triple Time Communications and Yamaha Music Bangladesh.
Meanwhile, Miles is preparing for an eight-city concert tour of Canada in August. Hamin Ahmed said the band is also working on new music alongside its busy performance schedule.
