The High Court’s stay order on the trial proceedings against the BNP Chief Khaleda Zia in four separate vandalism and arson cases will remain in force for the next two weeks.

Chamber Judge of the Appellate Division Justice Hasan Foez Siddique today adjourned the hearing of the four petitions, filed by the government seeking stay on the High Court order.

The apex court’s chamber judge also asked the government to file four separate leave to appeal petitions with the apex court against the High Court order in two weeks.

Following separate bail petitions filed by Khaleda, the HC on April 13 stayed the trial proceedings against her in the four cases and also issued four separate rules asking the government to explain why the proceedings of the cases should not be scrapped.

Among the four cases, three were filed with Darussalam Police Station and another case was filed with Jatrabari Police Station in 2015 during anti-government agitation enforced by the BNP-led alliance.
