Spring starts with colourful festivities

The first day of Spring, Pahela Falgun, is being celebrated in a colourful way across the country today.

The start of the Bangla month Falgun is welcomed with various tinge of yellow across the country with cultural programmes having the theme of Spring to welcome rejuvenation of nature.

Performers draped in 'bashonti' or yellow coloured sarees, decked up in floral ornaments welcomed the season with songs and dances celebrating the colours and joy brought by Spring.

Bakultala of Dhaka University gave Spring a traditional warm welcome in which the urbanites joined spontaneously. Many children wearing colours of Spring came to enjoy the festivity with their parents.

Different socio-cultural organisations also arranged various programmes in the capital and elsewhere to celebrate the day.

Like every year, the first day of Spring coincides with the Ekushey book fair's dates and people were seen buying books wearing the attires of Spring.
