Not more than one rider on bike on Pahela Baishakh: Kamal
The government has placed a bar on more than one person riding on a motorbike on Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year.
The motorcyclist also cannot carry any bag on shoulder or hand for security concern on the day, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said today while addressing a press briefing at the Secretariat in Dhaka, reports Bangla daily Prothom Alo.
He said special security measures have been taken across the country for the smooth celebration of Pahela Baishakh, UNB adds.
The authorities concerned were asked to refrain from arranging any cultural programme at open places after 5:00pm on the day, he told reporters after attending a meeting on law and order situation ahead of the Bangla New Year’s day.
“It was also decided to ban the use of any instrument that can create loud noise during the Mangal Shobhajatra,” Asaduzzaman said.
Security will also be beefed up in Ramna Park area and Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University area on that day. CCTV cameras and watch towers will be installed at important points of the city while police will be deployed in plainclothes to stop eve-teasing in the capital, the minister added.
