Venue for victory day celebration vandalised
Some unruly youths today vandalised a venue arranged for celebrating the country’s 49th victory day in Brahmanbaria this morning.
They vandalised chairs and tore off banners at the venue around 8:45am, an hour before beginning of the victory day programme, reports our local correspondent.
Some 12 to 15 youths covering their faces with pieces of clothes carried out the attack, a CCTV footage shows.
After the vandalism, the unidentified youths left the place, according to the footage.
The celebration programme which was organised by Brahmanbaria District Council was held at the same venue one and half hour later, said Shafiqul Alam, chairman of the district council.
Shafiqul Alam alleged that local Awami League men were behind the attack.
Anisur Rahman, superintendent of police in the district, said, “We will take action after investigation”.
