Throat-slit body of schoolboy found in Chandpur

The throat-slit body of a ninth grader was recovered in Haziganj upazila of Chandpur today.

Police recovered the body of Maruf Hossain Riyad, 16, from a tea stall in Mokimabad area, said Alamgir Hossain, officer-in-charge (OC) of Haziganj Police Station.

Riyad, son of Faruq Mia, was a student of Amin Memorial High School, our Chandpur correspondent reports quoting police.

Police detained Farid Hossain, the owner of the tea stall, for interrogation while shop employee Faruq Hossain, 28, went into hiding, the OC said.

Riyad had a feud with tea stall employee Faruq few days back, victim’s mother Rozina Begum claimed.

She further said that Riyad’s uncle Shakil stabbed him two months ago over a trivial matter and a case was filed in this regard, she added.

Riyad’s father Mia claimed Shakil also went into hiding soon after the incident.

Shop owner Farid came to his shop in the morning and found it locked although his employee used to sleep there at night, said Azhar Alam Bepari, word councillor of the area.

Breaking open the shutter, they found the throat-slit body of the boy and informed police, he added.

The body was sent to Chandpur General Hospital for autopsy and investigating is going on, OC Alamgir said.
