Killing parents: Oishee seeks acquittal
Oishee Rahman, who was sentenced to death for killing her parents, filed an appeal with the High Court seeking acquittal of the charges.
She also prayed to the High Court to grant her bail in the case.
On November 12, a speedy trial tribunal awarded capital punishment to Oishee in the case filed for killing her parents – an official of Special Branch Mahfuzur Rahman and his wife Swapna – in 2013.
Oishee has also challenged the trial proceedings of the case saying that the speedy trial tribunal cannot try a child as his client was 17 years' old during the occurrence of the killing incident, her lawyer Masud Rana told The Daily Star.
Oishee killed her parents in cold blood and somebody "supported" her in committing the murders, the court said in the judgment.
It was a heinous crime and a pre-planned murder, it added.
However, Oishee's lawyer claimed that she was not involved in the killing.
The court gave Oishee the death penalty on two counts of murder, and said her execution would be carried out if the High Court upholds the verdict.
