Dhaka to send a team to repatriate Bangladeshis from Yemen

Dhaka is sending a two-member team, comprising of the counsellor at Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait and a staff, to Yemen today to help repatriate the Bangladeshi nationals trapped in the war-torn country.

Foreign ministry officials said Counsellor SM Mahbubul Alam and the staff will depart from Kuwait this evening and are expected to reach in Aden city of Yemen by early tomorrow (Friday) depending on availability of flight.

They said the two officials will help verify or identify the Bangladeshi nationals in Yemen. The officials, if needed, will help Bangladeshi nationals to be on board in a ship.

Some 1,500-3,000 Bangladeshi nationals are currently living in Yemen.
