Cops seek Aslam in remand on treason charge
Police today sought BNP leader Aslam Chowdhury in remand over a sedition case filed for allegedly fraternising with Israel to overthrow government in Bangladesh.
Detective Branch (DB) of police appealed to show Aslam, also the new joint secretary general for BNP, arrested in the treason charge and moved a 10-day remand plea to quiz him.
Metropolitan Magistrate Zakir Hossain set May 30 to pass an order in this regard. The court ordered for Aslam's presence at courtroom on that day.
Fazlur Rahman, a DB inspector and also investigation officer of the case, moved the remand plea.
The BNP leader drew controversy after meeting an Israeli politician in India early this month. He was arrested by detectives from Khilkhet area in Dhaka on May 15.
He was sued for treason yesterday.
