A Bangladeshi national was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) on Baghadanga border in Moheshpur upazila of Jhenidah early today.

The deceased, Alam Hossain, 32, son of Abdus Samad of Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga, was shot to death inside Indian territory around 3:30am, our local correspondent reports quoting BGB official.

Alam along with five to six others intruded 500 yards inside Indian frontier to bring cattle while a vigilant team of BSF from Barnabaria camp opened fire, said Lt Col Tajul Islam, commanding officer of BGB battalion 58 in Jhenidah.

Alam received a bullet from the firing, the BGB official said adding that his fellows fled from the spot taking him.

He died later while on the way to Chuadanga, said the official.
