Armed men abduct Rangamati UP member
A union parishad member was abducted by an armed group from his residence in Rangamati's Kaptai upazila early today.
The victim, Mong Ching Marma (45), is a member of ward-5 under Raikhali Union Parishad, said Junayet Kawser, additional superintendent of police (ASP), Rangamati Kaptai Circle.
Mong was a former activist of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Samhati Samiti (PCJSS), our Bandarban correspondent reports, quoting the ASP.
Sama U Marma, Mong's wife, said around 10 to 12 armed men broke open the door to their house and picked up her husband.
The criminals first looked for Mong's elder brother Abu Marma, but they picked up Mong as Abu Marma was not home at that time, the wife added.
Abu Marma is president of the Awami League ward-5 unit, said Enamul Haque, chairman (in-charge) of Raikhali union.
