Rapid Action Battalion detained six members of a gang for producing fake currency and seized counterfeit notes of around Tk 1.04 crore in Banasri residential area of Dhaka this morning.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of Rab-3 conducted a raid in Banasri around 6:00am and detained one Rahim, a ringleader of the fake currency making syndicate, Major Maksud, deputy director of Rab media wing, told The Daily Star.

As per his statement, the Rab team also detained five of his associates and seized fake notes worth around Tk 1, o4, 80,000 from their possession.

They also seized fake note making equipment during the drive, the Rab official said.

Details about the drive will be made public at a press briefing at the Rab Uttara headquarter later in the day, he added.
