Teenager held for raping girl

A 13-year-old boy was arrested yesterday on charge of raping a 5-year-old girl in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh, police said.

Officer-in-Charge of Debiganj Police Station Rabiul Hasan Sarkar said the boy had entered the girl's house on Sunday evening when no one else was there and raped the girl.

He fled the scene immediately after sensing presence of the girl's mother, the OC said, adding that the girl then narrated everything to her mother.

The girl was taken to Debiganj Upazila Health Complex on the night as she started feeling sick, Rabiul said.

Abu Sayem, medical officer of the hospital, said they had sent her to Panchagarh Sadar Hospital yesterday afternoon for necessary tests after giving primary treatment.  

The OC also said the girl's family was taking preparation to file a case.

Meanwhile, police arrested a man on Sunday night for his alleged attempt to rape a female student of class six in Baliadangi upazila of Thakurgaon

The arrestee Moksed Ali, 39, is a resident of Kashidangi village of the upazila.

Officer-in-Charge of Baliadangi Police Station Mosabberul Haque said Moksed, who is a neighbour of the girl, tried to rape her after entering her house when no one else was there.

He fled the scene when the girl screamed out for help, the OC added.

Later on the night, the girl was admitted to Baliadangi Upazila Health Complex.

The girl's father filed a case with Baliadangi Police Station in this connection.
