5 more detained over Dinajpur temple blast
Five more including four of a family were detained from Palashbari upazila of Dinajpur over Thursday's attack on a temple in the district.
Police raided at their house around 3:00am and detained them for interrogation, Mojibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Palashbari Police Station said.
The detainees were Shahkawat Hossain, Abu Jaffar Ikbal Prothan and his three sons Farhad, Fuyad and Shihab, our Gaibandha correspondent reports.
A good number of Jihadi books were also recovered from their house, the OC added.
Earlier on Thursday night, unidentified gunmen hurled a crude bomb inside a Hindu temple in Dinajpur and opened gunfire. Two people were injured in the incident.
Following the attack, locals caught one of the attackers – Safayet Hossain – while he was fleeing the spot. He is now in police custody.
Yesterday, police detained Mozammel Haque, son of Canadian expatriate Shakhawat Hossain from Birganj upazila in Dinajpur in this connection.
The incident triggered panic among the Hindus in the area as it came just five days after a bomb attack on Kantaji temple in the same upazila.
On November 30, Birendranath Roy, a Hindu priest of Iskcon, was shot in Chirirbandar upazila of Dinajpur. Piero Parolari, 67, an Italian doctor and priest, was shot in Mirzapur area of Dinajpur town on November 18.
