Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) claimed to have detained five suspected operatives of banned militant outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) from Boraigram upazila of Natore early today.

One of the detainees was identified as Jubayer Hossain, who was said to be the regional chief of the militant outfit, our Natore correspondent reports quoting Assistant Superintendent of Police Azmal Hossain, also company commander of Natore unit Rab.

Tipped-off, a group of JMB militants holding a clandestine meeting at Bhabanipur village around 1:20am, a team of Rab raided there and detained them, the CO said.

A stash of religious inciting books and leaflets were seized from their possession, he also said.

Rab will hold a press conference in connection with the detention later in the day.
