5 children rescued in C’nawabganj, ‘kidnapper’ held

Police today rescued five children and detained one person in connection with his alleged involvement in their abduction in Chapainwabganj municipality area.

The detainee was identified as Rabiul Islam, 32, of Palsha village of Sadar upazila, said Ziaur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Chapainawabganj Sadar Police Station.

Rabiul, an ice-cream vendor by profession, was spotted along with the five children in Alinagar-Bhutpukur area around 3:00pm, the OC said.

Locals informed police as the children were seen crying.

On information, police raided the area and detained Rabiul as he failed to give any satisfactory reply regarding the children, Ziaur Rahman said.

Later, police rescued the children and brought Rabiul to police custody, he also said.

Separate general diaries were filed with the police station in this connection.
