Two alleged robbers were killed in a gunfight with rivals near Barunatail Bridge in Magura Sadar upazila early today, police said.

The deceased -- Lavlu Mondal (40) of Madhukhali upazila and Daud Mondal (38) of Boalmari upazila in Faridpur district -- were accused in 10 criminal cases, according to the law enforcers.

Saiful Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said two groups of robbers engaged in a gun battle over establishing supremacy in the area around 1:30am.

Hearing sounds of gunshots, a patrol team of police went to the spot and found the bullet-hit bodies of the two robbers, he said.

Law enforcers recovered seven sharp weapons and 10 cartridges from the scene, the OC said
