2 human traffickers held in Cox’s Bazar
Law enforcers have arrested two alleged human traffickers from Teknaf and Ramu in Cox's Bazar since yesterday.
Tipped off, police officials conducted a drive in Sillkhali area of Teknaf and detained alleged human trafficker Mohammad, 42, from his residence around 3:30pm, Officer in-Charge of Teknaf Police Station Ataur Rahman Khandaker told The Daily Star.
A case has been filed against Mohammad, an enlisted human trafficker, over human trafficking, the police official said, adding that the detainee was later presented before the Cox's Bazar Judicial Magistrate Court.
Earlier, members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab-7) detained alleged top human trafficker Md Abdullah Prakash Bidyut, 40, from Khoniapalan area of Ramu Upazila during a drive last evening around 5:00pm, Company Commander of Rab-7 Md Mohiuddin told The Daily Star.
Cox's Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Court sent Abdullah to jail after he was produced before the court following his arrest, the RAB official said.
Abdullah was on the run with several cases over human trafficking filed against him. He allegedly conducted trafficking activities from different points on the coast of Cox's Bazar, the official added.
