Mentally challenged teen ‘raped’ in Manikganj

A mentally challenged teenage girl has allegedly been raped in Daulatpur upazila of Manikganj.

Law enforcers have arrested one named Abdur Rahim of Shikder Para village in the upazila in connection with the incident, reports our Manikganj correspondent.

The incident took place yesterday when the victim went to visit the house of Abdur Rahim’s brother-in-law in the neighbourhood, victim’s sister said.

Later, the victim came home crying and informed the family members.

When the victim’s father informed the villagers about the incident, they got angry and gave Abdur Rahim a thrashing, locals said. 

Later, police arrested him from Daulatpur Upazila Hospital, said Sunil Kumar Karmakar, officer-in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station.

The victim’s father has lodged a case with the police station, the OC added.
