Meanwhile, another Dhaka Court placed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Rajib Ahsan on a five-day remand on charges of destructive activities and obstructing police duty.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam passed the order after law enforcers produced him seeking to question him in custody for 10 days.

Twelve others, detained along with him, were placed on 10-day remand.

Rajib and five of his associates were sent to jail after police produced them before a court in Patuakhali in connection with a case filed for possessing yaba tablets on July 20, 2015.

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal is the student wing of political opposition BNP, which suffered a major blow after its Chairperson Khaleda Zia was jailed yesterday on charges of corruption.
