Sylhet rail link with Dhaka, Ctg restored

Sylhet’s rail link with Dhaka and Chittagong that snapped following a landlide in Moulvibazar’s Lawachara national park this morning was restored after around six hours.

Shahabuddin Fakir, stationmaster of Bhanugach Railway Station, confirmed the matter to our Moulvibazar correspondent.

A chunk of soil broke off and fell on the lines in Magurchara area of the park in Kamalganj upazila suspending rail communication of Sylhet with Dhaka and Chittagong around 6:30am, Tabibur Rahman, local assistant conservator of wildlife management and nature conservation department, told the correspondent.

Three trains -- Kalni Express, Joyantika Express and Demu Express -- were stranded at Shamshernagar because of the incident, said Jahangir Alom, stationmaster of Srimangal Railway Station.
