BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Rizvi Ahmed today alleged that the government wants to divert people’s attention by pressing charges against Khaleda Zia.

He was pulling reference to yesterday’s development where Darussalam police pressed charges against BNP Chairperson Khaleda and 38 others in three arson cases.

“There government wants to divert people’s attention from the recent killings,” he alleged in a press briefing arranged at the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters this noon.

The BNP leader also claimed that the people does not lay faith on prime minister’s words of assurance, that was offered on the note of a police official’s wife killing, because of the “government’s incompetency in dealing with previous killings.”

Also, Rizvi alleged that the government is backing a syndicate which is responsible for the hike in essential commodities at market ahead of the month of Ramadan.
