20 gold bars seized at Sylhet airport
Customs officials today seized 20 gold bars weighing 2.3 kilogrammes at Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.
The gold bars were found in a bag lying under seat no 38-E of Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG-248, which reached the airport from Dubai around 8:00am, said Ahsan Ullah, deputy commissioner of Customs, Excise and Vat Commissionerate in Sylhet.
On information, a team of customs officials searched the aircraft and found the gold bars in an abandoned condition, our Sylhet correspondent reports quoting the DC.
The market price of the seized gold is approximately Tk 1.15 crore, the official said.
No one was arrested in connection of the seizure, he added.
