Fog disrupts ferry services
Dense fog caused by light rain disrupted ferry transportation for seven hours in Munshiganj’s Shimulia-Kaurakandi route today.
The rain caused the fog, Shamsuddin Ahmed, director of Bangladesh Meteorological Department, told The Daily Star in the morning. “The fog will not persist in the days to come,” he said.
In Munshiganj, ferry services across Shimulia-Kaurakandi resumed at 9:00am – seven hours after it was forced to suspension, our local correspondent reports quoting authority.
Operations of eight ferries were compelled to a halt, said Md Giasuddin Patwari, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA).
Hundreds of vehicles were stranded on both banks of the river during this time.
