DU student’s body recovered from Shitalakkhya

Police recovered the body of a Dhaka University (DU) student from Shitalakkhya river in Narayanganj this afternoon.

Deceased Parvej Ahmed Joy, 25, is a second year student of Political Science Department of DU and son of Jaynal Abedin hailing from Boralu in Rupgang upazila of the district.

He was also working at a company named Sonar Bangla Multipurpose in the evening, Sub- inspector of Rupganj Police Station Nuruzzaman told our Narayanganj correspondent quoting Parvej’s family members.

Parvej was missing since Sunday night, the SI said adding that locals spotted the body floating in Shitalakkhya in the afternoon and informed police.

Parvej might have been strangled, Officer-in-Charge of Rupganj Police Station Ismail Hosen told the correspondent.

The body has been sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for autopsy.
