Couple’s hanging bodies recovered in Magura

Police recovered the bodies of a couple hanging from the ceiling of their house in Mohammadpur upazila of Magura this morning.

The deceased were identified as Rabiul Islam, 28, and his wife Khadiza Begum, 23, a correspondent in the district reports quoting police.

Both the bodies were found hanging from the same rope in the house at Kanutia village under Binodpur union in the upazila, said Sub-Inspector Siddique Hossain of Mohammadpur Police Station.

The couple was married five years ago and they had a two and a half year-old daughter, the SI said.

Their relatives entered the room after breaking open the window as the couple was not responding to their call, he said.

Later, police recovered the bodies.

“Primarily we are suspecting it is an incident of suicide but nothing conclusive can be said before full investigation,” said Tarikul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of the police station.

The bodies will be sent to Magura Sadar Hospital for autopsy, the OC said.
