A baul singer was allegedly gang-raped in Ashulia, on the outskirts of Dhaka, after she was invited to a “musical show”, police said today.

Two persons were arrested today a day following a rape case was filed by the victim, our Savar correspondent reports quoting Abdul Awal, officer-in-charge of the local police station.

The identities of the two arrestees could not be known immediately.

The 32-year-old victim, hailing from Narayanganj, yesterday filed the case with Ashulia Police Station accusing 10 to 12 people.

She is now receiving treatment at the One-Stop Crisis Centre of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), OC Awal said.

“She was invited to a purported musical show by another female singer at a rest house in Ashulia,” the OC added.

“As she reached there, 10 to 12 men detained her to a room and raped her overnight,” the police official said quoting the victim.

Police are conducting drives to arrest the rest of the culprits.
