Basic Bank scam: JS body summons ACC for not taking action against Bacchu
A parliamentary body on law today summoned Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) to know why it did not take action against Sheikh Abdul Hai Bacchu for his involvement in Basic Bank scam.
The parliamentary standing committee on law issued the summon at a meeting held at the parliament complex with Abdul Matin Khasru, president of the parliamentary standing committee, in the chair.
The body also made a recommendation to ensure the presence of the ACC officials including its chairman and respective investigation officer in the meeting.
In the meeting, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, a member of the parliamentary committee, informed the parliamentary body about the specific directives of the High Court in connection with the Basik Bank scam.
The parliamentary body expressed concern over the inaction of the ACC in taking action despite having the HC order. The body also recommended making the issue as an agenda for the next meeting.
The High Court on June 11, last year reiterated its earlier directive on the Anti-Corruption Commission to bring Basic Bank’s former chairman Sheikh Abdul Hye Bacchu and its three top officials to book in connection with loan scam.
