State Minister for Fisheries and Livestock Narayon Chandra Chanda is going to be “sworn in as a full minister” of the ministry, Bangabhaban sources said.

Chanda, Awami League lawmaker from Khulna-5, has been asked to be present at the Bangabhaban tomorrow evening, the sources said.

“Cabinet Secretary Md Shafiul Alam made a phone call today urging me to be present at Bangabhaban around 6:00 pm tomorrow,” Chanda told The Daily Star this evening.

But the cabinet division secretary did not make him clear about the reasons, he added.

Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque passed away on December 16 last year. Since then, the post remained vacant.

Alongside, AKM Shajahan Kamal, a lawmaker from Laxmipur-3, Kazi Keramat Ali from Rajbari-1 and IT expert Mustafa Jabbar have also been asked to be present at Bangabhaban tomorrow evening.

“The Cabinet Division also made a phone call this noon asking me to be present at the Bangabhaban around 6:30pm tomorrow,” Kamal told The Daily Star.

Keramat Ali and Mustafa Jabbar confirmed that they have been invited by the Cabinet Division at the Bangabhaban tomorrow evening.

Jabbar, also the President of Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services, may be made a technocrat minister as he is not a lawmaker, sources said.

Ahead of the upcoming 11th parliamentary election, the cabinet may be reshuffled to bring dynamism in the government's activities, according to Awami League insiders.
