4 killed in Bagerhat road crash

Four people were killed and 30 others injured following a head-on collision between a bus and a truck on Khulna-Mawa highway in Bagerhat’s Fakirhat upazila this afternoon.

Three of the deceased were identified Bipin Poddar, 55, Mahmudul Hasan, 13, and the truck driver Kamrul Islam, 32, our Bagerhat correspondent reports quoting police and fire service officials.   

Shahadat Hossain, additional superintendent of police (Sadar Circle) in Bagerhat, said the Dhaka-bound bus of “Tungipara Express” from Khulna collided with the sand laden truck from the opposite direction in Kalim’s Shop area at noon, leaving three people dead on the spot and 31 others including Hasan others injured.

The injured were rushed to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex and Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH).

Hasan later died at the KMCH, the police official added.
