Apan Jewellers owner Dildar denied bail again
A Dhaka court today again rejected the bail petition of Apan Jewellers owner Dildar Ahmed Selim in connection with three money laundering cases.
Judge Kamrul Hossain Mollah of the Court of Metropolitan Sessions Judge passed the order after Dildar‘s lawyer submitted three separate appeals against the rejection orders of three lower courts.
Earlier, three separate metropolitan magistrates denied bail to Dildar and sent him to jail after he surrender before the courts seeking bail in connection with the cases filed with Ramna, Dhanmondi and Uttara Paschim police stations.
On November 13, Judge Kamrul Hossain rejected the bail petitions of the two others owners -- Gulzar Ahmed and Azad Ahmed -- in two cases lodged with Gulshan Police Station.
Dildar is the father of Banani rape case accused Shafat Ahmed. The trial of the case against Shafat and four others is being dealt with another Dhaka court.
On August 12, Customs Intelligence filed five cases against the three Apan Jewellers' owners under the Money Laundering Prevention Act.
According to the statements of the cases, the accused imported around 15 maunds of gold and diamonds by “dodging tax”.
