‘Drug peddler’ killed in Bhairab ‘gunfight’
A suspected drug peddler was killed in a reported gunfight with police in Bhairab Municipality area of Kishoreganj early today.
The deceased Selim Mia, son of Syed Mia of Panchabati, was wanted in ten cases, said Mokhlesur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bhairab Police Station.
Being informed that a gang of drug traders were dealing with drugs in the area a team of police conducted a drive in the area at Gachtalaghat, he said.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, the drug peddlers fired gunshots to police forcing the law enforcers to retaliate, which led to the “gun battle”, leaving Selim dead on the spot, the OC added.
