9 robbers held with gold in Dhaka

Detectives detained nine robbers including a ringleader by launching raids in Turag area of Dhaka last night.

Acting on a tip-off, DB men launched a raid in Diabari area and detained the nine robbers when they were taking preparation to commit a robbery last night, Monirul Islam, joint commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, told at a press briefing at its media centre today.

The DB men also seized four tolas of gold ornaments and sharps weapons from their possessions,he added.

All the detainees were members of an organised inter-district robbery gang and were engaged in committing robbery at different parts of Dhaka and its adjoining highways, the police official said.
