9-month-old baby raped in Chattogram

A nine-month-old baby girl has been raped allegedly by her paternal uncle in Fatikchhari upazila of Chattogram, police said today.

A case was filed by the victim’s father in this connection with Fatikchhari Police Station against the accused Mozammel Haque, 25, this evening, said Babul Akter, officer-in-charge of the police station.

The baby has been undergoing treatment in Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH) in a critical condition, the OC confirmed.

“They showed me the medical documents,” he said.

In the case statement, the victim’s father, a fish-trader, alleged that his brother Mozammel raped his nine-month-old daughter in absence of family members at his house in East Farhadabad village under the upazila on Tuesday morning, OC Babul said.

“Mozammel fled the scene as soon as the mother appeared in the room,” he alleged.

“I can’t believe how a man can be barbaric like that. We demand arrest and exemplary punishment of the perpetrator,” he added.

“We are conducting drives to arrest the accused,” OC Babul Akter said.
