4 killed as boat capsizes in Habiganj

At least four people including three women and a child were killed as a boat capsized in the Khowai river of Habiganj district tonight.

Several people riding on the boat also went missing in the incident, our Moulvibazar correspondent reports quoting Md Abdul Ahad, chairman of Makrampur union.

Among the four, two deceased are: Abala Sarkar, 47, a resident of Batirpool area of the town, Mukta Rani, a child, hailing from Bhabanipur village in Baniachang upazila.

Identities of the rest two women were not known immediately.

The boat, carrying a group of people and cement, capsized in Lambabagh area of the river around 8:30pm , he said.

It was heading towards Radhapur from Chouwdhury Bazar area of Habiganj town.
