39 AL men held, 2000 sued over N’ganj death
Thirty-nine Awami League men have been held in a case that sued over 2,000 ruling party activists over the death in infighting in Narayanganj yesterday.
Sumon Mia, from Rupganj, died yesterday in infighting while standing guard to avert violence centering the graft case verdict of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The deceased’s mother-in-law filed the case yesterday, naming a Union Parishad Chairman Rafiqul Islam, the prime accused, and 49 others and accusing about 2,000 anonymous others.
Md Ismayel Hossain, officer in-charge (OC) of Rupganj Police Station, told The Daily Star today that 39 of the accused named in the lawsuit have been arrested.
