3 'militants of Sarwar-Tamim group’ held in C’nawabganj
Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed to have arrested three active members of “Sarwar-Tamim group” of the banned outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in Chapainawabganj.
The arrestees are: Azibul Haque, 53, Saiful Islam, 35, and Tajamul Islam alias Taju, 45.
On information, a team of Rab-5 conducted a raid in Kamardah mango orchard of Chapainawabganj Sadar around 1:00am today and arrested Azibul and Saiful from the orchard, AM Ashraful Islam, deputy director of Rab-5, told The Daily Star.
Based on information given by the two detainees, the Rab-5 team conducted another drive in Shibganj upazila of the district and arrested Tajamul from a house around 3:00am, the Rab official also said, adding that the law enforcers also recovered some books on jihad from the arrestees.
Meanwhile, a team of Rab-7 arrested a JMB member named Sharful Islam, 30, from Courtbazar area of Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar early today, our district correspondent reports quoting Major Mohammad Ruhul Amin, company commander of Rab-7(Cox’s Bazar camp).
Sharful, accused in four cases filed with different police stations of Chittagong under Explosive Substances Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act, had been reorganizing the outfit, the Rab official added.
