3 ‘drug smugglers’ held in Dhaka

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) today claimed to have arrested three members of a drug smuggling racket in Dhaka and seized a huge amount of drugs from their possession.

Mir Manjur Rashid alias Sunny of Joypurhat, Md Mahmudul Hasan alias Chayan of Lalmonirhat and Md Habibullah of Sirajganj were arrested from Eastern housing area in Rupnagar, Mufti Mahmud Khan, legal and media wing director of Rab-1 said in a press briefing.

Sunny, leader of the drug racket lived in Spain for the last 15 years and came to Bangladesh five months ago, Mufti Mahmud said.

The arrestees were allegedly selling different types of drugs with the help of a courier service to different international markets in Spain, the Rab official added.

On primary investigation, the trio admitted to the crime.
