2 girls ‘raped’ in Dhamrai, Savar
A 13-year-old girl and a garment worker were allegedly raped in Dhamrai and Savar of Dhaka on Monday.
In Dhamrai, the victim’s sister claimed that their neighbour Buddo Mia, 30, took her sister to a lemon garden from their residence in Radio Colony area and raped her there around noon.
Hearing screams of the victim, locals rescued the girl and caught the alleged rapist. Later, they handed over the duo to the victim’s family, she said, adding that Buddo Mia, however, managed to flee.
“Then, we took my sister to Dhamrai Upazila Health Complex around 8:30pm and the doctors referred her to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for proper treatment.”
Amzadul Haque, health and family planning officer of the health complex, told our Savar correspondent that they primarily found evidence of rape.
In Savar, the garment worker, aged around 25, was allegedly raped by her co-worker in Katlapur area on the same day.
A rape case was filed against the alleged rapist, whose identity could not be learnt immediately, following the incident, said, Mahabubur Rahman, assistant superintendent of police of Savar Model Police Station.
