Youth stabbed dead, another injured in Dhaka

A youth was stabbed to death and another critically injured as miscreants attacked them in the capital’s Khilgaon area today.

The deceased was identified as Hafiz, 25, while injured Palash, 28, is undergoing treatment at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (NITOR).

A gang of miscreants swooped on the duo with sharp weapons and stabbed them in Nabinbagh Balur Math area of Khilgaon around 8:00 pm, Kazi Mainul Islam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khilgaon police station told The Daily Star.

Hafiz and Palash were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) in critical condition where doctors declared Hafiz dead, the OC said, adding that Palash was later shifted to NITOR for better treatment.

One person was detained in this connection, he informed.

“The reason behind the attack could not be ascertained immediately,” the police official said.
