Top Jamaat leaders held in Dhaka

Police today claimed to have detained two political bigwigs of Jamaat-e-Islami and recovered a huge amount of explosives from their possession during a raid in Dholaipar area of Dhaka.

Detainees Nurul Islam Bulbul is the president while Shafiqul Islam is the secretary general for Jamaat’s north unit in Dhaka city, Abdul Jalil, officer-in-charge of Kadamtali Police Station told The Daily Star.

Based on secret information, police conducted a raid in area around 8:30pm and detained the duo from the first floor of a house and recovered a huge amount of explosives and inciting books from their possession, the OC said.
