Roads to watch out today
The government has chalked out a two-day programme from today to celebrate the country's eligibility to graduate to a developing country from a least developed one.
Processions were brought out from nine spots in the capital from 4:00pm and were merged at Bangabandhu National Stadium. Artistes, players, eminent personalities and dignitaries joined the processions.
To facilitate the celebration, Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) yesterday announced a number of roads in the capital will be closed from 2:00pm to 6:00pm today.
The major routes to be aware of for today's rallies and celebrations are as follows:
-- Shilpakala Academy-Matsya Bhaban-Kadam Foara-Press Club-Paltan-Baitul Mukarram-National Stadium-north gate of the stadium.
-- Bangla Academy-Doyel Chattar-Abdul Gani Road-GPO-National Stadium - west gate of the stadium.
-- Nagar Bhaban (Dhaka south)-Golapshah Shrine-Gulistan intersection-Rajuk intersection-east gate of the stadium.
-- Bangladesh Bank square-Dainik Bangla-east gate of the stadium.
Here are the detailed instructions from the press release containing the routes of rallies from different ministries and departments:
Those who will gather in Bangla Academy and its adjoining areas will go via Bangla Academy-Doyel Chattar-Abdul Gani Road-GPO towards west gate of the Stadium.
The departments and ministries that will gather at Shilpakala Academy and Matsya Bhaban areas will head towards the north gate of the stadium from Shilpakala Academy via Matsya Bhaban -Kadam Foara- Press Club- Paltan- Baitul Mukarram.
Some rallies will gather at Shishu Academy and Doyel Chattar areas and head towards the west gate of the stadium through Abdul Gani road- GPO to the west gate.
Those who will gather at Suhrawardy Udyan and Engineers Institute of Bangladesh areas will take the Matsya Bhaban-Kadam Foara- Press Club- Paltan- Baitul Mukarram route to the north gate of the stadium.
Rallies from Dhaka University gymnasium ground and adjoining areas will use the Doyel Chattar-Abdul Gani Road-GPO towards west gate of the Stadium.
Those who will gather at Nagar Bhaban (Dhaka south) will take the Golapshah Shrine-Gulistan intersection-Rajuk intersection to the east gate of the stadium.
Rallies from Bangladesh Bank Chattar will enter through the east gate via Dainik Bangla intersection.
From the south-east side of Ramna Park, rallies will enter the stadium though its north gate via Matsya Bhaban-Kadam Foara- Press Club- Paltan- Baitul Mukarram.
