No extra fees for SSC, HSC exams: HC
The High Court today ruled that no educational institution can charge additional fees from the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) candidates to let them sit for the public examinations.
If any institutions collect extra fees from the candidates, the authorities will have to refund it to the student within 30 days.
According to the rule, the government can suspend the managing committee and governing body of the institution if they do not refund in due time the additional fees collected from the examinees.
The court asked the government to issue a cautionary notice to this effect so that the institutions cannot charge extra fees.
No school and college will refuse to allow any student to fill up their forms if the students cannot pay extra fee, the court said.
The HC bench of Justice Kazi Rezaul Haque and Justice Mohammad Ullah came up with the order after hearing a writ petition filed seeking necessary order.
