Razzak’s health improving: Doctor

Nayak Raj Razzak, 74, is on life support at the United Hospital in Dhaka since Friday night.

Brushing aside the confusion over the "death" of renowned Bangla film actor Abdur Razzak, the doctor under whom the film star is being treated at United Hospital in the capital said Razzak is not dead.

"Razzak is not dead. He is conscious and his health condition is improving," Dr Sagupa Anwar of the hospital told The Daily Star over phone this evening.

Earlier, a rumour regarding the death of Nayok Raj Razzak spread out in the social media sites; even some online news portals have published news with title "Razzak is no more with us", creating a huge confusion among the fans of Razzak.

Dr Sagupa said, "Many celebrities have met him [Razzak] today. He even talked to his family members."

The doctor, however, did not mention any name of the celebrities who went to the hospital to meet Razzak.

The popular film star has been on life support since Friday night after experiencing breathing problem. He was admitted to United Hospital that day with respiratory problem, Motiur Rahman, duty manager of the hospital, told The Daily Star on June 28.

The film actor was kept at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital since his admission, the official said.

The patient was also suffering from diabetes and hypertension, he added.
